Treble Magazine:
“Trinary System brings back the take-no-prisoners anthemic experimental-minded rock attack that made Burma such a beloved and influential force on the aptly titled The Hard Machine. Miller—propelled by the dialed-in and malleable beast of a rhythm section made up of bassist/synth player P. Andrew Willis and drummer Larry Dersch—puts on a master class in guitar sonics and Mellotron fury, unleashing a torrent of fuzz-drenched strings stabs, bends and scrapes.” Brad Cohen.
Rezonatz: (8/10): “It is not an album I liked at all the first time I played it, but the more I got into it the more I realised just how good this is, as it is only by playing the album all the way through a few times that one understands fully what is going on. How people listen to shuffled music on streaming platforms I will just never know.”
Perhaps the reviewer should have taken a note from the first Silver Apples LP: “Play twice before listening”.
Our March shows were a total blast. We played a lot of material from our newest album, The Hard Machine.

B.Mez
B.Mez: “Under Circuitous Skies”, out now on Cuneiform Records.
This improvisational trio, formed by Michael Bierylo, Rick Scott and Ken Field of Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, often performs live with one guest musician. In this case, Mr. Miller was the guest musician for a three-day recording session of improvisations in 2019. This session is finally seeing the light of day. Mr. Miller is quite pleased to be on this recording and reuniting with good friends and bandmates: it is at turns ambient, psychedelic, and trance-inducing. He is also pleased that B.Mez liked the frottage drawings he did at the studio that became the cover art.
From R! Rocking (Greece):
“Under Circuitous Skies” is a brave album of about 70 minutes, in which the music is built from long improvisations…The sound colors are warm and the empathy between the musicians is evident, with the instruments taking their time and space with patience and gentle expressions. The album is exotic, charming, with imperceptible lines and intoxicating iconography, orchestrated by four wonderful musicians who never fit into molds.

UNplugged from a Band
Fri., April 10: The Stone Church, Brattleboro, VT.
Opening for Tanya Donelly/Chris Brokaw duo, who will be performing madrigals. Miller will choose the most medieval sounding material from his repertoire.
THE GREEN MAN, due early September on Don Giovanni Records (LP/Cd/digital), has been recorded at the amazing Guilford Sound Studio. The album presentation of the music primarily varies the textures but keeps overdubs to a minimum, maintaining the “Solo Performance” aspect as the primary feel. So far, it sounds quite rich, sonically speaking.

The Anvil Orchestra
April 18: The (final) Roger Ebert Film Festival, Champaign, IL. Buster Keaton’s THE GENERAL.
April 20: The Milwaukee Film Festival. Buster Keaton’s THE GENERAL.
May 26: The Coolidge Corner Theater, Brookline, MA. THE GENERAL.
It is, after all, the 100th anniversary of Buster Keaton’s masterpiece THE GENERAL.
Our new film later this year will be “Berlin: Symphony of a City”

Sproton Layer
